About your safari guides
The guide diploma issued by the Zimbabwean government is one of the most comprehensive and difficult to obtain on the African continent. From the names of trees, flowers and birds to the geology and environmental knowledge needed to guide walking safaris, we guarantee you an unrivalled safari experience.
One of Zimbabwe’s last wilderness sanctuaries, this 22,000 km² jewel in the north of the country boasts a variety of unique ecosystems.
Mana Pools, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the jewel in the crown of Zimbabwe’s national parks. With few tourists, you’ll enjoy an authentic experience in the midst of a wilderness perfectly preserved by regulations that prohibit any permanent construction. A vast array of wildlife roams here, attracted by the permanent waters of the Zambezi River and the surrounding lakes. The unique feature of the park lies in the opportunity to approach large mammals on foot, combined with canoe safaris along the Zambezi River.
You’ll come face to face with Nature, in absolute silence.
The banks of the Zambezi overlook the river and flood plains where can be observed a remarkable concentration of wildlife. Large herds of elephant and buffalo, many species of antelope and their predators, such as lion and hyena, migrate to the region every year during the dry winter months.
For bird lovers, the park boasts more than 450 recorded species of resident and migratory birds.
The largest artificial lake in the world
A gigantic inland sea created by a dam on the Zambezi River, Lake Kariba lies on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, and covers an area of 5,600 km², making it the fifth largest artificial lake in the world.
When the dam was built, huge tracts of Mopani forest were submerged by the rising waters: the flora present consists of dried tree trunks emerging from the water, offering a magical sight at sunset.
The lake is rich in fish and is home to a large crocodile population, estimated at 25,000. The lake provides water for several species and the banks are regularly populated by animals.
You’ll sail through forests of petrified mopane trees, falling asleep on board at night with elephants, hippos and crocodiles as your only neighbours… You’ll forget the passage of time. Your days will be filled with boat excursions, wildlife spotting along the banks, yoga, safaris and a visit to an island…
A Natural Spectacle!
Victoria Falls is one of Africa’s most spectacular natural attractions. The millions of litres of water rushing down the gorges of the Zambezi offer a magical spectacle. At the heart of a protected national park, they form a natural border between Zimbabwe and Zambia.
October is the dry season. Even if there is sometimes little water left, you can admire the immensity of the land fault and not be blinded by the mist. It’s also the perfect time to take advantage of other activities, such as rafting in the gorges, swimming in Devil’s Pool (on the Zambian side) or taking a shivering plunge at the edge of the chasm. Thrills guaranteed.
