Pafuri, North Kruger

The 350 km-long Kruger National Park offers enormous diversity, and Pafuri Camp in the far north-east is a perfect illustration of this. Pafuri is an incomparable area for walking safaris.

With 75% of Kruger’s range of flora and fauna, the region is made up of lush gorges, rocky mountains, plains and forests. Pafuri Camp is located in the Makuleke’s 26,000 ha private concession, near the Luvuvhu River.

This Makuleke-owned land is the meeting point of a multitude of habitats, making it an area of extraordinary beauty and biodiversity. The concession is by far the most diverse in the whole of Kruger, with almost three quarters of the park’s bird, mammal, fish, amphibian, reptile and tree species. The area has also long been considered a top destination for birdwatchers.

You’ll enjoy two safari activities a day in this corner of paradise – bush walks in the morning with your armed guide, then a 4×4 safari in the late afternoon and early evening in search of nocturnal animals.

Balule Private Game Reserve

The Balule Private Game Reserve – Tsonga for “buffalo” – is part of the legendary Kruger National Park. This private concession, crisscrossed by rivers, plains and immense savannah woodlands, is the ideal vantage point for tracking the Big Five, the great lords of the savannah that once terrified Africa’s hunters and poachers – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhinoceros. It boasts 35,000 hectares of green spaces where you can relax, recharge your batteries and reconnect with nature. The Olifants River runs for 20 km through the heart of the reserve, making it an ideal destination for birdwatchers.

Safari in 4×4

The elephants don’t go unnoticed, the lions prowl around and tracking leopards is thrilling! With the help of experienced safari guides, the chance of encountering one of these animals is highly likely.

Night drives

A night safari is a powerful experience. As night falls, unusual creatures take advantage of the darkness to hunt and feed – leopards, lions, hyenas, porcupines, galagos, wild dogs…. You’ll criss-cross the savannah at night in search of them. The vehicles are equipped with spotlights to help you spot them. Ideal for photography!

  • Bourke’s Luck potholes – These are magnificent rock features. The huge holes were carved by swirling pebbles in the basins where the Blyde and Treur rivers meet and become one.
